LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Children from around the Las Vegas valley got to enjoy a little holiday cheer in the middle of the summer.
Goodwill of Southern Nevada hosted kids from three non-profit groups for the third-annual Christmas in July Shopping Spree on Friday.
Kids and families gathered at the Goodwill store on Lake Mead Boulevard in North Las Vegas, where they each received a $100 gift card for their shopping experience.
Rick Neal, president and CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, said the tradition started two years ago as a way to support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“While Southern Nevada has bounced back, thousands of families rely on Goodwill to help make ends meet,” Neal said in a statement. “This tradition is our way of lifting up our neighbors and inviting our community to join us in doing so.”
One-hundred children who are served by Children’s Advocacy Alliance, Foster Kinship and Helping Hands of Vegas Valley were paired with North Las Vegas first responders to serve as shopping partners.
Goynes-Brown welcomed them to kick off their shopping.
