We’re looking for young people to apply to be a member of Nevada’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB)
The YAB helps to ensure the voice and expertise of young people who’ve experienced foster care is included at the table
We value the insight, expertise, experiences and contributions of young people who’ve experienced foster care.

What Is the Youth Advisory Board?
The Nevada LIFE Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is comprised of a dynamic group of young people who are currently in foster care of have experienced foster care. They help change and shape policies and laws within the state of Nevada. Advocating for topics important to them.

What Does the YAB DO?
The YAB meets online (on zoom) every month for about an hour.
Members are a part of a team that shares thoughts, opinions, advice and recommendations on important and current child welfare and foster care topics, including Chafee, Independent Living, Extending foster care, and so much more.
Members also review and give feedback on various policies, while sharing their
expertise and knowledge.As a YAB member you are a part of TEAM of Change Makers from across the state of Nevada!!

What Will I Get If I Join?
Members receive a minimum of $50 for each meeting with opportunities to make more.
The opportunity to connect with young people with similar experiences and to make changes, while building and cultivating leadership skills.
The opportunity to connect with national advocacy groups and organizations. Learn about internships in Washington, DC and Seaside, Oregon and so many other amazing places.

Who Can Apply?
Anyone age 12-24 who lives in Nevada.
We encourage young people with these experiences to apply:
Juvenile Justice or Child Protective Services Involvement.
Houselessness and/or unstable housing.
Marginalized and underserved communities, like LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Tribal youth and young adults, and rural communities.
